The Iowa Operating Manual has recently moved to a different location on the CJIS Launch Pad. This move stems from an audit follow-up from the FBI. Instead of accessing the Iowa Operating Manual from the CJIS Documents section, users are required to access the manual from the “CJIS Manuals†section. Clicking on the CJIS Manual button will now require users to enter their nexTEST password before accessing information from the Iowa Operating Manual.
Attention All TACs and TAAs:
The Technology Services Bureau is beginning development of additional Image Capability. This capability will include the ability to attach and receive images associated with Administrative Messages and Amber Alerts.
Agencies that are not image capable, in other words your software does not support the ability to receive Driver’s License Photos, are requested to notify the Technology Services Bureau by sending a message to IFS8 or email to poorting@dps.state.ia.us. Since Administrative Messages are unsolicited messages, it is important that your agency’s terminals are properly configured on the IOWA System Switch as to whether or not they are image capable. If your system is not image capable, the text only will continue to be sent.
Thank you
Wireless Devices (Cellular Telephones/iPads/Tablets/Laptops)
At no time may IOWA System data, including driver’s license photos, be disseminated by way of a personal wireless device. IOWA System data may only be disseminated to and from wireless devices issued, owned and managed by the law enforcement/criminal justice agency and then only when properly encrypted. Before any IOWA System data is disseminated via wireless devices, Iowa DPS must be contacted to review, assess and confirm proper encryption is being employed.
This does not exclude providing IOWA System information verbally to an officer via cell phone when necessary in the course of their duties, or when officer safety is a concern.
Microsoft is ending support for Windows XP on April 8,2014. Please take a look at the document entitled "Microsoft Windows XP Support Issue" located under the CJIS Documents tab.
